DVD… and more

This documentary is meant to foster discussion on perceptions of mortality and its influence on the family dynamics around end-of-life care.  As it compares and contrasts the stories of the filmmaker’s two grandmothers, the film exposes a web of emotions surrounding the issues of a Living Will, palliative care, and contentious late-life decisions like refusing food and fluid.  Also, the film creates a space for contextualizing an elder person’s priorities in a patient-caregiver situation.  Moreover, by airing the voices of young people as well as those in middle-age and the elderly, it creates an opportunity for conversation and understanding between different generations.
